Based: Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham

Role overview

We are looking to recruit an innovative, committed and high performing individual to be responsible for the day to day task management and line management of the SEND Officers and to support the SEN Assessment Team Manager in leading the LA statutory duty of Education, Health and Care assessments, writing and issuing high quality Education, Health and Care Plans and SEN Support Plans and reviewing and maintaining Education, Health and Care Plans for all children and young people that reside in Oldham.

 

Key responsibilities

  • To provide support to the SEN Assessment Team Manager and SEND Service Manager in managing and developing the functions relating to the identification and assessment of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and the production, review and maintenance of Education, Health and Care Plans.
  • To provide direct line management to the SEND Officers.
  • To manage complex cases where a child or young person with SEND is undergoing an Education Health and Care Plan Needs Assessment or has an Education, Health and Care Plan in place.
  • To attend Mediation and Tribunal hearings as the LA representative.

Key Requirements 


To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • Experience of leading, developing and managing people within a large public sector organisation.
  • The ability to communicate at all levels, be efficient and organised, prioritise a demanding workload and be part of a wider team.
  • Demonstrable experience of driving continuous improvement through monitoring, evaluating and developing complex systems.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in partnership with parents and young people.
  • Knowledge of the statutory duties of a Local Authority to secure special educational provision for children with an EHCP.
  • A clear understanding and knowledge of the workings of local government and including its legal, financial, social and political context.
