The Head of Safeguarding is a key role for the Community Health and Social Care Service, and more widely, for Oldham in providing:

  • Safeguarding leadership across the system;
  • Excellence in practise linking with the Principle Social Worker
  • Ensuring a common understanding of safeguarding across the safeguarding partnership
  • Making the connection between safeguarding strategy and policy, and frontline practise
  • Ensuring safeguarding is person centred and outcome focussed
  • Ensuring safeguarding across adults and children’s services is connected, and that the benefits of joint working are realised
  • Continual learning and development of the safeguarding partnership

We are looking for someone to join our team who can demonstrate:

  • Experienced Head of Service who has extensive knowledge, skills and background in safeguarding
  • Proven track record in driving improvement and performance
  • Excellence in partnership working and stakeholder engagement
  • Be an excellent system leader with the ability to lead a team and influence practise within the Community Health and Adult Social Care Service and across the wider safeguarding partnership
  • Commitment to Oldham and to supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community to live a life free from abuse, and have their voices heard

Liberty Protection Safeguards Manager
Salary - up to £45,591 per annum
Permanent Contract, 36.66 hours per week

Ahead of the publication of the LPS Code of Practice, we are keen to have a team in place, so we are ready to implement the new legislation and transition from the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

 

The Liberty Protection Safeguards Manager is key to operationalising the LPS Code of Practice guidance. Working to the Service Manager for Strategic Safeguarding, you will:

  • Manage a team to deliver a service in line with the service plan and associated standards within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards/Liberty Protection Safeguards Service.
  • Build effective partnerships with all key stakeholders across Oldham, with the aim of supporting the Community Health and Social Care service to meet the statutory requirements of the liberty protection safeguards.
  • To provide leadership, advice and guidance to practitioners and providers with regard to Deprivation of Liberty/Liberty Protection.
  • To champion the mental capacity and adults safeguarding agenda across Community Health and Social Care and the wider safeguarding partnership.
