SEND Advisory Teacher

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Teachers pay and conditions; Main Pay Range or Upper Pay Range (up to £38,633) plus TLR2B Allowance £4399.68

Hours: 1 FTE

Based: Level 4, Civic Centre, Oldham Council

Role overview

Working as part of an experienced and supportive team the role will involve providing consultation, assessment, advice, interventions and strategies to remove barriers to inclusion and promote the achievement of individual pupils and groups of pupils within school settings.
The post is based at the Civic Centre, Oldham but will include travel to schools across the borough.

 

Key responsibilities

As a member of the Quality and Effectiveness Support Team you will:

  • To be aware of and understand National and Local initiatives and priorities, and the implications for children with SEND in Oldham.
  • Carry out assessments and offer advice to schools and families on all aspects of SEND (apart from sensory and physical impairments) and offer an area of specialism
  • Assist schools and the local authority in monitoring the progress of pupils with SEND
  • Deliver training at whole school / LA level

 

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:
Up to date and comprehensive knowledge of the SEND legislation and the Code of Practice including the Graduated Response
Qualified Teacher Status and have experience as a SENCo in a mainstream setting
Considerable experience of working in classrooms providing inclusive high quality teaching for pupils with SEND
Knowledge of strategies, approaches and resources appropriate for children with SEND, particularly those with difficulties in Speech, Language and Communication, Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health and other high incidence needs.
