Role Overview
You will be involved with the full range of building control activities for which you will need widespread building control knowledge together with knowledge of dangerous structures legislation and relevant IT software applications. You should be able to manage your own workload as well as working as part of a team, whilst also demonstrating good customer service skills and have an ability to maintain relationships with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- To examine applications and plans and undertake inspections of building work to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and other associated legislation.
- To provide professional and technical advice to customers on pre-application submissions.
- To investigate reports of dangerous structures as directed during normal working hours and take appropriate action to render safe any structures found to be in a dangerous condition.
- To support the partnership scheme by advising partners on appropriate solutions for specific projects.
Key Requirements
- We are looking to recruit a Building Control Officer ideally qualified to MRICS, MCABE or MCIOB level, or can demonstrate that they are working towards a recognised professional qualification.
- To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum: A degree in Building Control or equivalent related qualification recognised by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or the Chartered Association of Building Engineers or Chartered Institute of Building as giving eligibility for full membership.
