Salary: £26,317 - £30,507 p.a. 

Hours: 36.66 per week

Role overview

 

Working within the Information Management Team you will undertake activities focussed on the delivery of the Council’s Information Management strategies, policies, providing advice and support on information governance issues to ensure the appropriate legal and best practice compliance, protection, quality and access to the Council’s information and records.

 

Key responsibilities

  • To research and assist in the development/review/implementation of procedures and provide guidance and advice in order to meet the requirements of legislation, regulations, British standards and best practice in relation to information governance, primarily data protection / Freedom of Information & Environmental Information Regulations / records management and information security
  • To provide advice to the council management, officers, schools, politicians and partners in relation to the application of data protection in its day to day existing and planned processes and/or programmes, projects and initiatives.
  • to create and deliver training and guidance material, to promote and train Council management, officers, elected members, schools and partners with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of lawful and effective information management and governance
  • to liaise with customers, Council management, officers, politicians, schools, partners in the investigation of DP/FOI/EIR/IS complaints/concerns with the aim of reaching resolution and making recommendations to reduce risk of recurrence. Where appropriate liaise with the Regulator, Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in resolution and provision of evidence as required

Key Requirements

 

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • evidence of determining and providing advice in the support of legislation, standards and best practice
  • demonstrable experience of working closely with a broad range of officers and stakeholders,
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively advise, support and influence officers and stakeholders.
  • experience of successful time and task management in an environment of high demand and conflicting priorities
