Environmental Operative – Street Cleansing Grade 3 sweeper driver:  4 on 4 off shift work

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: Grade 3 SCP16 - 21 £17,149 - £20,139 (+10% Band B enhancement – for working unsocial hours, inclusive of working bank holidays)

Role overview

 

To undertake work cleansing the public highways and footpaths, landscaped areas, parks, cemeteries and public spaces including street cleansing and grounds maintenance duties.

To drive and operate LGV mechanical sweepers and other vehicles as per assigned duties. To ensure thorough removal of litter, detritus, weeds etc across the Borough.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • To work with LGV specialist vehicles and other large plant associated with maintenance and street cleansing activities, including all machinery and mechanical sweeping equipment and associated tractor mounted implements.
  • To work with minimal supervision and accept responsibility for the direction of the work of trainees and or other employees as assigned.
  • To complete all necessary paperwork internal / legislative (GB Domestic driving regulations) 
  • Safe storage of vehicles plant & equipment.
  • Report defects and repairs to LGV vehicles plant and equipment.
  • Assist in training apprentices/trainees and colleagues as required.
  • To work unsocial hours including weekends and bank holidays over a 4 day shift pattern.
  • To undertake continuous training (CPC) as required.

 

Key Requirements

 

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • To carry out all duties in line with Oldham Councils Health & Safety policies and compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Applicant MUST hold a full clean UK driving licence with category C1 as essential requirement.
  • Able to be flexible in working arrangements, including working weekends and bank holidays as per contract.
