Role Overview:

 

Under the guidance of the Homes’ Manager, to deliver and promote a programme of parental, community, services including outreach and short breaks, targeted to hard to reach and vulnerable children and young people on the “Edge of Care”

 

Key Responsibilities::

  • Working with children and young people with complex care and trauma and their families
  • To work as a co-ordinating, delivering practitioner within Oldham Council providing care, and family support to children and families of Oldham. Establishing relationships with Children and families in an environment that is welcoming and meets their individual needs.
  • To promote and provide positive child centred learning opportunities that meet the requirements of the Quality Care Standards for Children’s Homes.
  • To support parents and carers of children to increase knowledge of their children’s development and potential, enable them to gain confidence in their role as parents and to build better family relationships undertaking direct case work with cases deemed to be at risk of care.
  • To work as part of a multi-agency team offering time limited intensive interventions and parenting support to improve the outcomes of young people and their families.

 

 
Key Requirements:

  • This post also carries a requirement to work regular weekends, evenings, bank holidays and to sleep – in’ as required by the homes rota.
  • Experience of working with children/young people and building positive relationships.
  • Have an NVQ 3 qualification in Health and Social Care with Children and Young People or Equivalent.
  • Current Full Driving Licence and a vehicle to be used for work purposes.
