Salary: £15,882 (Grade 6 £26,470)

Hours: 22 per week (3 days / 0.6 FTE)

Based: Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UT

Role overview

The Strategy, Partnerships and Policy Team are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Food Partnership Coordinator to work with Oldham’s local Food Partnership to deliver strategic and targeted projects and co-ordinate access to fresh, healthy, local food for children, including during the holidays.

 

We need someone who can help shape the plans and ambitions for food in Oldham and make those a reality through effective engagement and partnership working. The post would suit an experienced coordinator with an interest and knowledge of food, including a track record of the delivery of priorities and projects through collaborative working.

 

This is an exciting and varied role, offering a real opportunity to deliver in a fast-paced partnership environment.

 

Key responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

 

  • Co-ordinating and delivering activity involving access to fresh, healthy, local food in Oldham.
  • Leading the delivery of holiday hunger activity and provision for young people during school holidays and be the point of contact, providing information and advice.
  • Working with existing providers of enrichment activities and with providers of fresh, healthy, local food (including communities in Oldham)
  • Researching and developing an Action Plan for access to food for children – developed with active participation and contributions from local partnerships and networks.
  • Developing a business case and evaluating the impact and outcomes of activity, embedding new working practices and informing future priorities.
  • Working with local delivery partners (e.g. Oldham Food Network, Get Oldham Growing) around five key shared priorities:

 

1. Make it pay – enterprise, employment, sustainability

2. Grow More – practical growing, community capacity

3. Share More – transport, distribution, knowledge, ideas

4. Learn More – education, skills, working with schools

5. Waste Less – reduce food waste

 

  • Facilitating and developing the Growing Oldham: Feeding Ambition Partnership which focuses on working together to support key food priorities and drive a sustainable and co-operative approach to food.
  • Producing and presenting reports and updates, including representing the Growing Oldham: Feeding Ambition Partnership internally and externally.
  • Researching and producing a draft Sustainable Food Cities Silver Award application which includes interpreting and reporting a range of data and information around food.
  • Developing a consistent and credible message of food sustainability within Oldham using a wide range of communication tools

 

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

 

  • Understanding and awareness of sustainable food including national issues. 
  • Experience in undertaking a range of co-ordination and monitoring activities to successfully deliver projects. 
  • Experience of effective collaboration and partnership working and in researching, collating, processing and analysing information/data. 
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional relationships with others at all levels and to encourage others to engage in projects.
  • Knowledge of; project management techniques and their application as well as key national policy drivers, legislation and broader influences
  • Experience of using media channels and communication networks and using Microsoft IT packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. And knowledge of data protection
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the community sector and an understanding of the politically sensitive environment in which local authorities operate
