Role Overview:

Working within the Unity Partnership IT service, the Network Technical Lead will be responsible for managing the day-to-day technical operation of the Council’s Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) solutions, maintaining performance, security and availability of key systems.  This role is crucial to ensuring service requirements are met in terms of communication, prioritising, escalating and resolving incidents and requests in accordance with established service level agreements and KPI targets. 

 

They Technical Lead will be responsible for the technical approach and integration when designing and implementing changes or new systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct technical and first line HR line management leadership to the Network Team in order to maintain a ‘Customer First’ culture. 
  • Ensure the smooth, secure and uninterrupted operation of ICT Services in line with all agreed SLAs, through the delivery of customer-focused, high-quality services as described in the published ICT Service Catalogue - always adhering to agreed policy and procedure
  • Be responsible for the operational management of call assignments within the Network team
  • Ascertain and understand the requirements of the business users and then design a technical solution that can be handed to a project team to be built or implemented.
  • Take responsibility for all technical elements of Network and Systems Security, ensuring that all regulatory and legislative requirements (e.g. Code of Connection, PSN, PCI) are adhered to, and this includes research and development of new security solutions

 

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • CCNA Qualification (Essential)
  • CCNP Qualification (Essential)
  • 3+ years of experience working in data centres / ISP with an emphasis on Network Operations Centre (NOC)
  • 1+ years HR line management experience (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience of the system and network infrastructures such as LAN and WAN network technologies and fault monitoring tools.
  • Demonstrable experience in infrastructure automation and configuration management
  • Experience of mentorship in the field of network and communications
