Role Overview:

 

We have exciting opportunities for Senior Practitioners to come and join Oldham Council within fieldwork services, both in the duty and assessment team, and in the long-term team.

 

About The Role:

You will be an experienced social worker with a high level of skill and knowledge, who models good practice and is passionate about securing good outcomes for children and families.  You will be responsible for a complex case load, which will require you to undertake evidence-based assessments, and implement SMART intervention plans, alongside partner agencies.  A significant part of the role will be committed to practice development activity; mentoring, guiding and developing less experienced social workers, to contribute to a highly skilled and effective workforce.   You will be passionate about outcomes and good quality practice and use both local and national research and innovations to support and encourage others to improve.

About You:

You will hold a relevant Social Care qualification, be registered with the HCPC and have substantial post-qualifying experience.  You will bring an understanding of related agendas, practices and policies, as well as a thorough knowledge of all associated legislation.   You will also relish the opportunity to contribute positively to the development of fieldwork services, alongside the wider service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework and policies in relation to safeguarding children;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in writing assessments and SMART plans for young people;
  • Proven experience in demonstrating your impact on families in achieving positive outcomes for children and influence the professional networks that you work with;
  • Innovative and positive engagement with children and families in their assessments and SMART plans and a passion for delivery of high-quality services and interventions to vulnerable children in partnership with a wide range of agencies.

Key Requirements:

  • Educated to DIPSW or degree level social work;
  • HCPC registration;
  • Evidence of professional development;
  • The ability to use IT;
  • Substantial post qualification experience in statutory childcare services;
  • Working as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Willingness to improve practice of self and others;
  • An enhanced DBS is required.
