Role Overview:
 

The post is based within Oldham Council’s Children’s Social Care Long Term Team and Children’s Assessment team. We are seeking a SW with minimum 2 years’ experience and ability to manage a complex caseload. The successful applicants will be qualified social workers with an interest and/or experience in social work with children and families. In addition, experience of working in partnership with colleagues across public services.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • To undertake a range of assessments in a timely manner, identifying the support needs and identify risk for children, young people and their families.
  • To develop multi-agency SMART plans for children and families, to work with families and professionals to manage risk effectively and improve outcomes for young people.
  • To prepare, attend and chair in meetings and participant in decision-making forums, for example, Court appearances, Reviews, Panels, Case Conferences or team meetings. To provide clear and accurate records of involvement with children and families and undertake statutory duties within timescale. 
  • To prepare for social work contact and involvement, including reviewing case notes, liaising with others for additional information and evaluating information. To work as part of a duty and assessment team,
  • To act for and advocate on behalf of Service Users, Carers and Families, within the boundaries of corporate and directorate policies. 
  • To promote multi-agency working with our partners, using the signs of safety model to improve working in collaboration.

 

 

Key Requirements: 

  • Educated to DIPSW or degree level social work;
  • HCPC registration;
  • Evidence of professional development;
  • Must have the ability to use IT;
  • Substantial post qualification experience in statutory child-care services;
  • Working as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to improve practice 
  • An enhanced DBS is required
