Role Overview:

The post is based within Oldham Council’s Children’s Social Care Children & Assessment Team. The successful applicants will be qualified social workers with an interest and/or experience in social work with children and families. In addition, experience of working in partnership with colleagues across public services at the front line would be an asset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To prepare for social work contact and involvement, including reviewing case notes, liaising with others for additional information and evaluating information. To work as part of a duty and assessment team.
  • To undertake the timely assessment of support needs and identify risk for children.
  • To develop multi-agency support plans for children and families, to work with families and professionals to manage risk effectively and improve outcomes for young people.
  • To prepare, attend and participate in meetings and decision-making forums, for example, Court appearances, Reviews, Panels, Case Conferences or team meetings. To provide clear and accurate records of involvement with children and families and undertake statutory duties within timescale.
  • To act for and advocate on behalf of Service Users, Carers and Families, within the boundaries of corporate and directorate policies

 

 

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • Professional qualification in social work;
  • Ability to assess children’s circumstances;
  • Ability to plan, co-ordinate and deliver packages of support;
  • Ability to write reports to a high standard.
