Role overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Strategy, Partnerships and Policy team for a Principal Policy Officer. The post would suit an experienced strategic thinker and problem solver with a track record of the effective delivery of key priorities and projects through collaborative partnership working.

 

Key responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

 

  • Working collaboratively to provide support and capacity to a range of boards, including the Health and Wellbeing Board, with a particular emphasis on the regional and national agendas.
  • Provide capacity and support to the leadership of the Council and partners undertaking horizon scanning, briefings, policy and project development as well as effective communications with a range of stakeholders.
  • Building strong and collaborative links across the organisation and partners to ensure on-going engagement and participation in health and social care integration.
  • Manage relevant programmes, projects and service level agreements associated with health and social care and other relevant agendas.

 

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

 

The role requires outstanding communication skills (written and oral), analytical skills to research and evaluate complex and varied information, developing ideas and initiatives, and making recommendations for action which will underpin policies, proposals and solutions.

 

You will be experienced in successfully initiating, managing and delivering a number of projects simultaneously and/or programmes within local government, particularly relating to health and wellbeing.

 

You will also have experience of working with elected members and have a comprehensive level of political awareness and sensitivity with a clear understanding of the workings of local government and Greater Manchester.
