Salary: Grade 4 £19,819 - £23,111.  Actual Salary: £13,456 - £15,692 p.a. 

Hours: 30 per week

Based: Various school locations across the Education Catering Service

This opportunity is open to internal and external applicants and registered applications of the Get Oldham Working scheme.  However, where a meaningful shortlist can be drawn from internal applications in the first instance, and residents of Oldham subsequently, these applicants shall be given priority access to the vacancy in line with the Council’s Recruitment and Selection Policy.

Role overview
  • To be a self-motivated, organised, responsible person who is enthusiastic, innovative and passionate about their job and is genuinely interested in food.
  • To cook to a very high standard which is delivered and compliant to Nutritional Standards in line with the current menu and take responsibility at unit level for all daily tasks.
Key responsibilities
  • To be responsible at unit level in ensuring a high quality Education Catering Service is provided.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of the service delivery e.g. ordering, preparation, production and meal service.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of Budget Management.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of Performance Management. 

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • To have Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, NVQ Level 2 – Catering or City & Guilds Catering.  Have or be willing to study for and obtain Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Experience in an industrial catering environment of all aspects of service delivery, ordering, preparation, production and meal service.
  • Ability to complete paperwork to a required standard and undertake IT duties.
