Role Overview:
We currently have an opportunity for a full time Independent Reviewing Officer to join our busy Safeguarding Unit, this is an exciting opportunity as we seek to strengthen our team. This role is critical to effective planning for children, timely interventions and ensuring plans are made a reality. You will have a key role in ensuring children and young people are safe and helped to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities:
- To chair pathway plan reviews, statutory reviews for looked after children and children placed for adoption and prepare minutes from the review.
- To chair and review child protection conferences, taking the lead role in conference management and establishing the plan for any actions needed by all relevant agencies.
- To chair other meetings in accordance with the LSCB procedures and any complex/contentious meetings where an independent chair is required.
- To act as a consultant for Social Workers and Managers and other agencies on child protection matters and thresholds for conferencing.
- To liaise with and provide appropriate challenge to Children’s Social Care officers and managers, appropriate Health, Education, Police, Probation staff and other Partner Agencies and relevant voluntary organisations.
Key Requirements:
- Educated to DIPSW or degree level social work;
- HCPC registration;
- Evidence of professional development;
- The ability to use IT;
- Substantial post qualification experience in statutory childcare services;
- Working as part of a team;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Willingness to improve practice of self and others;
- An enhanced DBS is required.
