Role Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to join Oldham’s Practice Hub as a Consultant Social Worker. The successful applicant will be key in improving Social Work practice across the service. You will make a positive contribution to Children’s Service by offering supervision, advice and support in addition to mentoring and joint working with team members. You will also be an enthusiastic advocate of promoting excellent outcomes for our children.

Key Responsibilities:
- To lead on the audit process, observe and facilitate the learning and development of all Social Workers and operational Managers to develop their professional capabilities in line with the Professional Capabilities Framework, Children & Families Knowledge and Skills Statement and National Accreditation and Assessment Scheme.
- To work with operational and senior managers to provide support to identified individuals and teams as part of the Audit Schedule and Learning and Development Plan for the Service.
- To monitor practice improvement and provide feedback to line managers and to escalate concerns to the appropriate manager where risk is identified and/or progress is not being made in line with our Improvement Plan.
- To work with the AD Safeguarding, Team Managers and the Workforce Development Lead to support social workers by designing and delivering a range of innovative individual and group training and professional development opportunities, to meet those needs and improve practice standards across the service.
- To contribute to the development and review of approaches, models, tools, policies and procedures that promote best practice in helping and protecting children.

Key Requirements:
- Educated to DIPSW or degree level social work;
- HCPC registration;
- Evidence of professional development;
- The ability to use IT;
- Substantial post qualification experience in statutory childcare services;
- Working as part of a team;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Willingness to improve practice of self and others;
- An enhanced DBS is required.
