Now is an exciting time to join Oldham Children’s Services as a Social Worker.  At Oldham Council we are ambitious for our children and we are looking for Social Workers who want to join #TeamOldham and become part of our vibrant and diverse community and share our aspirations for our children and families. We are particularly seeking experienced social workers with over 1 year experience to support our social work offer to children and families.

 

We are making exciting progress in relation to our improvement journey and seeing social work practice develop and thrive. We have also developed creativity in our COVID-19 response which is leading to a recovery plan shaped by contribution from our social care workforce. We have a new Director of Children’s Services and a fresh Senior Leadership Team who are dedicated to supporting our Social Workers deliver the very best services for our children and families, seeing improved outcomes and a focus on relationship-based practice.  We are doing this through a relentless focus on the quality of practice and by ensuring that our Social Workers have everything they need to do their job well and progress in their career.  We have a loyal, supportive and enthusiastic workforce who will give you a very warm welcome. 

 

Opportunities are available across Children’s Social Care - both fixed term and permanent roles - with some part-time opportunities.

  • Hold a relevant Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England 
  • Have the skill and abilities to analyse information, undertake assessments, maintain records and create plans that are SMART and deliver interventions that meet the needs of children and families with an unwavering focus on outcomes
  • Be committed to being part of #TeamOldham and making sure that we deliver our vision for children in Oldham through our Improvement Plans
  • Have a multi-agency approach to working together with whoever needs to play their part in helping the child and their family to achieve their goals   
  • Be creative in developing positive and effective relationships with the child and their family or carers that enables direct work to be completed successfully and change sustained
