New Bridge Multi Academy Trust (MAT) presently comprises New Bridge School, New Bridge Learning Centre, Spring Brook Academy, Hollinwood Academy (all situated in Oldham) and Hawthorns School (situated in Audenshaw). Our new AP free school, the Springboard Project, opened in September 2019. We support the learning, social and pastoral needs of over 700 young people aged between 4 and 19 years.

There are exciting opportunities for a number of resilient and enthusiastic Level 1 Teaching Assistants in the following schools:

Hollinwood Academy - provides a broad and balanced curriculum that enables children and young people from reception to Key Stage 4 to access creative learning opportunities tailored to meet their individual needs. Our children and young people have a diagnosis of autism and/or social and communication difficulties.

New Bridge School/New Bridge Learning Centre - cater for pupils with a wide range of SEND, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple learning difficulties, including severe and complex learning difficulties. The school also caters for pupils with physical disabilities, multisensory impairments, visual impairments, hearing impairments and specific conditions including autism spectrum condition. All pupils have an EHC plan. The school operates across two sites; 11-16 age range at our Roman Road campus in Hollinwood and 16-19 age range at our Learning Centre site on St. Martin’s Road, Fitton Hill.

These roles will be challenging yet very rewarding and appropriate training will be provided.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate how they meet the following essential criteria:

  • Previous experience of working with young people of primary/secondary school age who may present with challenging behaviour and complex needs, preferably within an educational setting
  • A nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management
  • The physical and emotional resilience to support pupils with complex needs, taking a non-judgemental approach
  • The ability to support teaching and learning within a special needs setting to a dedicated group of pupils
  • The ability to support the class teacher to monitor pupil progress, ensuring their improved engagement with the school and their learning
  • The ability to record pupil progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders
  • The ability to model and encourage appropriate social behaviour in and out of school and to cater for the general welfare of pupils
  • The ability to work in partnership with classroom teachers to differentiate appropriate interventions for pupils in relation to the curriculum
  • The ability to work as part of a team using own initiative when neede
  • Willingness to participate in own professional development

Contracted Hours:

36 hours 40 per week / term time only (190 days) - Hollinwood Academy

32 hours 55 minutes per week / term time only (190 days) - New Bridge
