Role Overview:
 

Working as part of an experienced and supportive team the role will involve providing consultation, assessment, advice, interventions and strategies to remove barriers to inclusion and promote the achievement of vulnerable learners primarily those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (S.E.M.H.D.)
The post is based at the Civic Centre, Oldham but will include travel to schools across the borough.

 


Key Responsibilities:

As a teacher in the SEMHS Team you will:

  • Support the Manager of the Social Emotional and Mental Health Support (S.E.M.H.S.) Team to deliver a co-ordinated response to primary schools in relation to pupils who are vulnerable and at increased risk of exclusion. This relates especially to those who have needs relating Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties SEMHD)
  • Take a lead role in the day to day supervision and professional development of the Teaching Assistants working in the team.
  • Take a lead role in the assessment, delivery and reporting of Day 6 Provision for primary aged pupils who have been permanently excluded.

 

Key Requirements:
 

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and have considerable experience of teaching children with Social Emotional or Mental Health Difficulties (SEMHD) in either a special school setting or other specialist provision.
  • Experience of planning assessing and delivery of a range of interventions and QFT approaches which has resulted in the successful inclusion of pupils with SEMHD
  • Experience of mentoring / coaching/ supervision of school staff particularly those who work to support the inclusion of pupils with SEMHD.
  • Up to date and comprehensive knowledge of the SEND legislation and the Code of Practice including the Graduated Response
