Salary: Teachers Mainscale or UPS (+ TLR 2 2,721 – £4,228 pro rata, dependent upon qualifications and experience)

Hours: 13 hours per week term time plus 5 days (0.4 FTE)

Based: Civic Centre, Oldham. OL1 1UT

Role Overview:

 

To support the inclusion of children and young people (CYP) with a hearing impairment and contribute to excellent aspirations and outcomes. In this role you will  provide advice, support, training and direct teaching to children & young people.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • To work with identified pupils to help promote inclusion and to overcome barriers to learning as a result of their hearing impairment
  • To work collaboratively with service staff, school staff, families, pupils and other professionals
  • To deliver and facilitate effective training and development of staff in schools and other agencies to raise awareness and skills for supporting pupils with a hearing impairment
  • To plan and teach interventions for children with a variety of different learning needs and styles.

 

 

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • Excellent communication skills with which to build and maintain effective relationships with all CYP, staff and families
  • Sound knowledge, skills and direct experience of teaching CYP with a hearing impairment.  Experience within early years and special education wold be beneficial
  • Minimum qualification in BSL Stage 1 (or equivalent) and BSL stage 2 or willingness to attain
  • The use of a car is necessary to work in settings throughout the borough
