Oldham is an excellent place to start and develop a teaching career, because:

  • The borough offers highly successful school-led NQT induction programmes.
  • NQT induction is high quality, and quality assured to a high standard.
  • With seven Teaching Schools in the borough the offer for teachers after their NQT year is second to none.
  • Schools collaborate closely across the borough providing further opportunities for professional and career development within an experienced and supportive team.
  • Good transport links mean that Oldham is just a short journey from both Manchester city centre and countryside areas of outstanding natural beauty, whilst also boasting affordable housing.
  • Oldham is a borough of contrasts, with both rural and urban schools, and offers opportunities to develop a career in a variety of contexts.

The Primary Teaching Pool encourages and welcomes applications from teachers who would like to work in any type of Oldham primary school.

The Oldham Education Partnership is working closely with all schools to support their continued progress.  Councillors have set aside £1 million over 4 years to support the work of the Partnership.
