System Support and Development Officer (GIS)

Hours: 36.66 per week

Based: Civic Centre, Oldham

Role Overview:

Working within the Unity Partnership IT Service, you will be responsible for the support, configuration and maintenance of Council Software Systems, with a focus on GIS (Geographical Information and Systems).

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on all areas of GIS development, management and monitoring of geographical information and systems Provide 2nd/3rd line support for core systems.
  • Resolve user enquiries of varying complexity in line with SLA’s ensuring that support call handling procedures are followed.
  • Ensuring well-embedded solutions and high quality data are effective in enabling Council and its Partners to see Oldham from a unique perspective through GIS
  • Undertake bespoke GIS related projects whilst also providing expert advice and guidance.

 

Key Requirements:
 

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • The ability and experience to support and maintain a number of IT software systems aligned with ITIL best practise processes, with a special focus on application interoperability, integration, development standards, GIS and application lifecycle management.
  • Experience of advising and leading development of processes within core systems, coupled with a strong knowledge and technical expertise in managing data
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively advise and support senior officers, with confidence to challenge where appropriate based on evidence.
