The Trustees are looking to recruit to the posts of     

TEACHING ASSISTANT LEVEL 1

NJC scale point 11

£17,007 per annum (full time, full year salary)

Actual £12,616 per annum

SEN Allowance £1,264 per annum

Commencing as soon as possible

 

New Bridge Multi Academy Trust (MAT) presently comprises New Bridge School, New Bridge Learning Centre, Spring Brook Academy, Hollinwood Academy and Hawthorns School.  We support the learning, social and pastoral needs of over 700 young people aged between 4 and 19 years. In addition, we offer a post 19 provision, New Bridge Horizons, a cafeteria concession, The Atrium and a new Future Finders Employability College, all based in Oldham town centre. We also have supported student placements at the Royal Oldham Hospital and Manchester Metropolitan University. All these components form the New Bridge Group.

 

We currently have vacancies for three Level 1 Teaching Assistants based initially within New Bridge School, which caters for pupils and students between the ages of 11 - 19 with a broad range of special educational needs and physical and learning difficulties. Our vacancies are based within the following areas:

 

  • Activ8: A Sporting Pathway for students in Year 10 and above focused on vocational and academic opportunities in sport. Students who undertake the Activ8 Pathway will enjoy sport and PE with a view to looking at a possible career in sport and the leisure industry.  Areas covered include the practical and theory aspect of Sports and Physical Education, leadership, organisation of sport, working with other external agencies and working in and around the community and the New Bridge organisation.

 

  • The Autism Base: A discrete provision for pupils who are on the autistic spectrum, providing a safe and consistent environment for pupils who find it difficult to adapt to change. Pupils in the base have a range of very complex needs and can display challenging behaviour. The pupils’ communication needs are the main focus in the Autism Base. These are met through an interactive, total communication approach using symbols, signs and solid objects of reference to enhance learning.

 

We are looking for candidates with experience of working with children who may present with challenging behaviour and complex needs. Previous experience of supporting secondary aged pupils and students would be an advantage, as would a proven track record of showing initiative and working effectively in a team. Applicants interested in the post within Activ8 should also have a particular interest and involvement in a range of sporting and/or outdoor activities.

 

Candidates should state clearly which setting they wish to be considered for in their application.
