Role overview

 

The post is based within Oldham Council’s Children’s Social Care in the Practice Hub Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Policy Officer. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a strong ability to work as part of a team and to use their own initiative in managing priorities. The successful candidate will take specific responsibility for the review, development, updating and implementation of policies and procedures ensuring best practice. A key part of the role will be to ensure policies are streamlined, compliant with employment law, and meet  business and organisational needs.

Key responsibilities

  • To support the Quality and Performance Manager in the delivery of statutory information governance compliance, audit, IT infrastructures and systems and quality assurance, ensuring policies and practices adhere to legislative requirements and frameworks.
  • To monitor policy, legislative, case law and other developments relevant to Children’s social care and the delivery of operational services and identify any implications for the organisation.
  • To undertake research and provide background briefings and other relevant information for elected members, senior managers and external organisations on policy and strategy implications for Children’s social care.
  • Ensure robust quality assurance and monitoring mechanisms are in place for the management of existing policies, strategies and procedures relating to operational service delivery.
  • To contribute to the development and review of approaches, models, tools, policies and procedures that promote best practice in helping and protecting children.

 

Key Requirements

  • Educated to DIPSW, degree level social work or professional qualifications
  • Evidence of professional development
  • Working as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to improve practice
