Role Overview:

 

We have a very exciting opportunity for two Senior Practitioners to come and join Oldham Council within the Permanence Teams working with Looked After Children and Young People.

 

About The Role:

You will be an experienced Social Worker with a high level of skill and knowledge relevant to the Social Work role. You will model good practice and be passionate about securing good outcomes for children, young people and families. You will be responsible for a complex case load, which will require you to undertake evidence-based assessments, implement SMART Care Plans and Pathway Plans, working from a multi-agency approach. A significant part of the role will be committed to practice development activity; mentoring, guiding and developing less experienced social workers, to contribute to a highly skilled and effective workforce. You will be passionate about achieving outcomes and good quality practice and use both local and national research and innovations to support and encourage others to improve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework and policies in relation to safeguarding and Looked After Children;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in writing assessments and SMART plans for children and young people;
  • Ability to assess risk and risk manage;
  • Ability to support others to develop their skills and knowledge within your team

Key Requirements:

  • Educated to DIPSW or degree level social work;
  • HCPC registration;
  • Evidence of professional development;
  • Practice Educator accredited or willingness and ability to complete this;
  • The ability to use IT;
  • Substantial post qualification experience in statutory childcare services;
  • Working as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Willingness to improve practice of self and others;
  • An enhanced DBS is required.
