Role overview
Working within the council’s Legal Services Team, you will be responsible for advising social work colleagues primarily in relation to child care matters and will conduct your own case-load of child care litigation from inception to conclusion and be expected to conduct advocacy at Court.
Key responsibilities
- Advising Council colleagues on legal matters primarily in relation to Social Services/ child care matters.
- Drafting and settling of legal documentation in relation to Children’s Social Care matters
- Conduct of litigation regarding Children’s Social care and Education matters
- Advocacy in contested and uncontested Hearings in Court and, when necessary, instruction of Counsel.
Key Requirements
To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:
- The ability and experience to conduct complex Child Care Proceedings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively advise and support senior officers, with confidence to challenge where appropriate based on evidence, and to operate as a team player.
- Excellent organisational skills will be needed to agree, develop and manage a full case load of child care litigation.
