Role Overview:

Working within the Unity Partnership IT service, the Senior Solution Architect will lead on designing and implementing new solutions that help Team Oldham meet its strategic objectives.   This is senior position, acting as a firm technical diplomat you will foster relationships with key people of all levels, making and influencing decisions and ensuring that we stick within agreed architectural principles.   The role will play an active role in helping to build out a digital platform for our borough, that forms part of a Digital Ecosystem that spans regional and national partners.

 

The role will keep an eye on disruptions from industry, regional and national developments and consider these in the planning and design of additions and decommissions of key technology systems. 

 

This post holder will hold design authority for business enablement projects and will hold a key role in Technical Design Authority, challenging and presenting designs and updates to infrastructure.  This is a decision-making role, considering commercial, technical and political matters and creating appropriate solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Senior Solution Architect services for projects and programmes, making recommendations and influencing enterprise wide effort to align to the ICT Strategic Roadmap
  • Ensure the transition of technical projects into robust business as usual arrangements
  • Provide strategic leadership and technical expertise across a diverse set of technologies, where necessary learning and introducing new technology
  • Lead on the management and development of new and existing solutions, ensuring rigorous compliance with the ICT service level agreements, internal quality requirements and best practice information security standards.

 

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a technical application support function, ideally in a significantly sized organisation supporting 1500+ employees
  • Demonstrable experience of the Microsoft Windows platform, VMWare, Azure, Interoperability, development standards, programming, database architectures and application architecture
  • Demonstrable experience of influencing, negotiating, leadership and ownership
  • Delivery focussed, a determination to succeed and looking ahead, considering likely future demand from our user bases
  • Credible in front of senior stakeholders and able to act as a trusted advisor to Senior ICT colleagues
