Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and innovative nurse to join the Health Protection Team at Oldham Borough Council. The post holder will be the public health lead for health protection in the council, and the role will encompass all aspects of health protection, including infection control/communicable disease, non-communicable environment hazards, screening and immunisation and supporting the council’s emergency planning role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to the strategic direction of public health protection plans, including proposing solutions to emerging issues, and making decisions on how health protection plans should be delivered.
  • Lead strategically and operationally to reduce avoidable Health Care Associated Infections (HCAI’s) and provide professional advice to key partners.
  • To support the DPH in the management of borough level incidents and outbreaks working with key partners and other local authority services..

Key Requirements:

  • Experience as a Senior Clinical Nurse band 7 or above, at least 2 years of which has been in infection prevention & control nursing.
  • In-depth nursing knowledge of community infection control and communicable disease and infection control in health care and social care settings
  • Experience of working in a health and community setting, working closely with clinical colleagues and health care providers
