Role Overview:

The service is entering a challenging period and we are looking to recruit an Assistant Building Control officer to supplement the team. The role is to assist the Building Control Officers as part of a team responsible for the Building Control function and learn with practical experience the skills necessary to become a fully qualified Building Control Officer.

 

The role is also an opportunity to undertake the theoretical and practical training necessary to obtain a qualification in Building Control recognised by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, Chartered Institute of Building and ultimately become a registered Building Inspector.

 

Key Responsibilities:

To assist Building Control Officers in the carrying out of the necessary functions of the team and embark on the necessary approved training offered under the Building Safety Act provisions to ensure that over a period of time you become a fully qualified and registered Building Control Officer.    

 

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • Educated to a minimum of BTEC, NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent in a Construction or Surveying related discipline
  • Construction industry experience gained by temporary seasonal, voluntary work or paid employment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Building Control legislation and associated approved guidance documents
  • Knowledge of traditional and modern methods of construction.
