What’s different about being a Team Manager in Oldham:

We work with one of the most diverse communities of any local authority in the country and this is reflected within our workforce which is one of our greatest strengths. The life experiences and challenges facing our children and families are incredibly varied and require an inclusive response which recognises their unique strengths and engages with them to achieve solutions.

Here in Oldham, we are committed to systemic practice, with a focus on building relationships with children and families, understanding context and family dynamics, and reflectively learning together, always improving how we work.

Role Overview:

Interested in working with children at risk of exploitation in our Complex Safeguarding Team?

We are looking for a team manager to join our multi agency Complex Safeguarding Hub. This is an exciting opportunity to join a service that plays a key role in safeguarding and working with young people at risk of exploitation across the borough of Oldham, including carrying out assessments and delivering bespoke interventions to reduce harm, raise aspirations and achieve great outcomes.

The Complex Safeguarding Hub works with young people who are at risk from child sexual exploitation, child criminal exploitation, gangs and serious youth violence and we have a strong focus on building trusted relationships and a trauma informed approach with young people alongside the disruption of perpetrators. You will work closely with colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and Health and other partner agencies to deliver the best possible response to those at risk of exploitation.

A key part of the role is to work closely with colleagues in social work teams across the borough, alongside partner agencies to support and advise on exploitation issues and to develop and sustain strong working relationships with a range of partners.

We are looking for an individual with a passion for working with children and young people, who has excellent communication skills and a sound understanding of social work and exploitation and who can be creative and innovative in their work.

As the Team Manager of the Complex Safeguarding Hub, you will manage a busy team of social workers to deliver effective services within the multi-agency Complex Safeguarding Hub. You will be responsible for the management, supervision, and professional development of the members of your team and ensuring that children and young people’s needs are met through quality interventions.

In Oldham we are committed to systemic practice, with a focus on building relationships with children and families and reflective learning, both within families and as a Service. We will support you with training in this model.

If you join us, we will develop and reward you for your expertise.  As a member of our wider management team, we will make sure you have access to support and professional development opportunities to continually improve your practice and advance in your career.

What we need from you:

To apply for any of these positions we need you to be a qualified, experienced social worker and registered with Social Work England.
