Grade: Grade 4, Grade 5 and Grade 6 (depending on experience, skills, abilities and qualifications) 

Salary: £26,421 - £35,745, plus car allowance, car parking, 24 days leave pus bank holidays, and a range of staff discounts / benefits

Hours: per week, 36.40 (however will accept applicants looking for flexible working hours)

We will also accept applicants for secondment, subject to manager approval.

Role overview

Oldham Council is looking to recruit for the Get Oldham Working Programme to support a range of provision supporting Oldham residents back into work and/or career progression.

 

We are looking for candidates who can work with customers to support them back into work across various services, including Restart, support to succeed and the National Careers Service. If you have a passion for supporting people, have knowledge of the local jobs market and how to break down barriers to employment, we would love to hear from you.

 

Flexible Hiring: we welcome candidates to apply for part-time, reduced hours, job share and flexible working, we also offer a mixture of home and on site working.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of customers back into work via completing thorough assessments, use of Information, Advice and Guidance, action planning and ongoing appointments / support;
  • Ensuring that all participant related activities are recorded accurately and appropriately on our systems in a timely manner, as per KPIs and professional standards.

And/or, depending on the grade you are applying for, you may also have responsibility for:

  • Supporting less experienced advisers in the team to develop and support more complex customers.
  • Provide group training and/or influence training curriculum on specialist areas such as psychology, physical wellbeing and/or career management;
  • Empowering participants to change their lifestyle behaviours and promoting independent management of their general physical, psychological, and social wellbeing to move into sustainable employment.
  • Producing tailored health action plans for each participant referred, focusing on improving their health and moving them closer to work.
  • Scheduling and delivering health and personal support related group activities (such as Exercise and Physical Activity, Healthy Eating, Good Sleep Guide).

Key Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • The ability and experience to support a caseload of customers with employment and skills related issues.
  • The ability and experience to assess customers with additional barriers and signpost to relevant provision.
  • Ability to use ICT system effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment and hit targets.

 

Not essential to apply, however it is also desirable that candidates have:

  • Knowledge of one or more specialist areas and how to apply with customers to change mindset, such as psychology, psychotherapy, physical wellbeing and/or career management.
